👋Hi there. I'm Scott.
I'm the Sr. Manager of UX Design for Metasystems on VALORANT at Riot Games. I'm responsible for the design and strategy of many of VALORANT's core systems, including player progression, purchases, competitive systems, the path-to-pro via our Premier system, social functions, and in-game Esports integrations. Since joining Riot, I've helped ship countless new additions to the game and supported our team as we shipped VALORANT on 9th generation consoles.
Working on VALORANT has been a dream come true. I like to say I was VALORANT's first "fanboy hire." I poured hundreds and hundreds of hours into tVALORANT at launch and am so proud that I now get to improve the game and add new features to our millions of dedicated players.
Earlier in my career, I spent 9 years at Microsoft working on products including OneNote, Whiteboard, and Surface. My area of focus there was on collaboration software with an emphasis on pen and touch UX. I explored allowing users to create new kinds of content with their peers in real-time, using devices and input mechanisms that were still in their infancy.
Between Microsoft and Riot, I spent 2½ years at Expedia Group leading a team of talented designers working on new experiences that allowed individuals and small businesses to sell their products to customers in Expedia's marketplaces around the world. We were primarily focused on building modern, easy to use applications for our travel partners that either wanted to start a new business or increase the impact of their current vacation rental business.
In addition to working at these great companies, I started a company of my own. Our product, Inklusive, is a tool that equalizes participation & minimizes stress in meetings, empowering everyone to speak up and have their voice heard.
I'm a proud graduate of Yale University (JE 2010) and longtime resident of Capitol Hill, Seattle. I'm also a musician, retro computer enthusiast, and cat owner. I play in a band and build guitars & software synthesizers in my free time.
